Central circuit trail
The central circuit trail which starts from mihunga gate is the most convenient, easy and shortest route to margherita peak. This trail is famous and enables climbers who aim only at summitting margherita peak in the shortest time . this central circuit trail is like a circle that is why it was called a central circuit.
Through the central circuit trail, you discover all the 5 vegetation zones and access to Mount Baker, Mount stanley, Mount speke , Mount Emin, Mount Gessi and Mount Luigi di savoia .
Bukurungu wilderness trail
This is the unique and less explored trail that existed in 2015 and was officially opened in 2018 under a partnership by WWF and the Uganda Wildlife Authority. This trail currently is the most adventurous to those hikers who love real wild nature and camping before joining the central circuit trail. The route takes you through the three camps, kasanzi camp, kambeho camp and lamia camp before joining the central circuit trail on your 4th day of trekking. Along this trail expect stunning views of lake bukurungu and lake mughule.

Kilembe trail
The kilembe trail is also known as the southern circuit trail route that presents a rich vegetation and animal life. This trail offers 7-8 days trek to the margherita peak . it is also a longer route that gives trekkers more time to stretch their legs.
Margherita peak
Margherita peak on mount stanley located on the Uganda and congo border stands at an elevation of 5,109 meters and ranks as the 3rd highest peak on the African continent .
The margherita peak is the highest of the six peaks in the mountain range.
This peak was first climbed by an expedition led by the Duke of Abruzzi in 1906 and was named after the queen Margherita of Italy.
Margherita peak is accessed through all the three trekking routes.
