Weismann's peak 6 Days Rwenzori trek

Book 6 days Rwenzori trekking to weismann’s peak [4620m] via the central circuit trail.

Weismann’s peak is one of the highest peaks in the Rwenzori mountains ranges. This peak is at an elevation of 4620m above sea level, it can be easily accessed through the central circuit trail though the peak can be accessed through other trails like the bukurungu wilderness camping trail and the kilembe trail.

Detailed Itinerary of the 6 Days weismann’s peak trek

DAY 1: Mihunga gate 1651m to Nyabithaba camp 2651m

The driver guide will drive you to mihunga gate for the briefing, organising your equipment  and meeting the guides, guides, chef and porters.

The trail begins passing through the montane forest along the mubuku valley.

Cross the kyoho and mahoma river before starting a climb up on the ridge and reach nyabithaba hut.

During this trek, animals such as the white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, chimpanzees, three horned chameleon and the Rwenzori turaco birds may be spotted.

Hike duration: 10km takes 5-6 hours.

DAY 2: Nyabithaba camp 2651 to Guy yeoman camp 3505m

After  breakfast early in the morning, from nyabithaba camp the trail takes you to the junction that connects you to mahoma lake route on the left then turn right for guyeoman route taking you through the bamboo zone up to kichuchu bridge . After crossing the bridge it’s a gentle walk passing on board walks up to kichuchu rock shelter for a packed lunch. After lunch and some short rest, the trail ascends steeply up to guyeoman camp 3505m. Its 5km and takes 6-7 hours. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: Guy yeoman camp to Kitandara Lakes camp 4023m

From guy yeoman camp the trail takes you through the boggy areas, crossing river mubuku and a view of Kabamba water falls before starting a climb up through the heather trees forest up to bujonjolo rock shelter for lunch. After lunch it’s a gentle steep climb up to the fresh field pass a nice view for margherita glaciers and weismann’s peak, then descend down to kitandara lakes camp for Dinner and an overnight. Its 7 km and Takes 7-8 hours.

DAY 4: Kitandara lakes to Weismann’s peak 4620m

Wake up early in the morning for a walk through the tussocks seeing animals like the Red mountain duikers and the Rock hyraxes from the rocks to weismann’s peak. After reaching the Top of weismann’s peak 4620 m then descend down slowly to kitandara lakes for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: Kitandara lakes to Guyeoman camp

Early in the morning after breakfast, start the journey down to guy yeoman camp.

Descending down to the camp for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: Guy yeoman camp to Mihunga gate.

In the morning , slope down to nyabithaba camp for lunch and continue down to mihunga gate for pick up by the driver guide. Taking 8 hours.
